Description

I've had this done for nearly a week and just not got around to uploading it..

It must be boring to look at compared to my colourful pictures recently :XD:

So, I won a free breeding with an OVEC stallion after placing second at =SageSinRiddle's OVEC FEI Championships 3 Day event. And I have no foals of the epicness that is the Moonpie :ohnoes: So after a bit of thought, I decided Moony needed to have one of the lovely OVEC Aear Kano's lovely babies. This is breed picture. STORY TIME NOW :la:

------
"Mr Bonnington! It's good to see you!"
Charlie was somewhat alarmed by the friendliness of the OVEC staff. He supposed, being that he'd been here fairly regularly over the past few years and was one of the competing stables physically nearest to the private Channel Island, that he really shouldn't be. It was just he was always here competing at high level competitions and generally shut into his little nervous cocoon of pretending not to be nervous but not speaking to anybody in order to maintain that pretension. And now he was here on another errand that was making him nervous, but there was none of the stress of a competition for the OVEC staff, so instead of rushing around like blue-arsed flies they were simply getting on with regular stable work and welcoming him like a friend.
The genuine shock had been being met at the dock by the owner, Robert Moore. Again, there shouldn't have been shock there - probably the surprise ought to have been on Robert's side that the owner of the stable of the mare coming here to be covered was accompanying the horse, rather than a groom. But Moony was too precious to leave in the hands of some underling - even Tom or Jemima, trusted and liked by Charlie as they were.
Moony was an odd horse to be so highly prized. She was a crossbreed whose sire had uncertain origins and whose dam had sadly passed away very young. She was entirely the wrong colour for a warmblood, and she was an utter nightmare to ride unless you had very firm hands and nerves of steel. And yet at 8 years old she was already a renowned force in the eventing world whose lowest ranking in a 3 day so far this year had been fourth. She'd been described as a 'diamond in the rough' by someone from Horse & Hound last year. Now they really weren't sure what to call her - diamonds generally had better pedigrees.
So Charlie had come with the mare to make sure that nothing had happened on the drive, then the boat, and then finally during the actual breeding itself. If Maddie had put him back on the map as a real competitor at the top level, it was Moony that was going to see him to the top.
Once the big horse had been settled in to a holding paddock - the decision had been to keep her here overnight and get her covered several times in order to get the best chances of her falling pregnant - Charlie had relaxed somewhat. Not entirely, but a little, enough to chat to some of the staff about Kano. The Trakhener stallion was, it seemed, almost as highly prized here as Moony was to Charlie. He was already showing the full potential of his sire, the legendary Athan Ambar, and by all accounts was a joy to work with. So much of a joy that it seemed his assigned rider - again, not a groom - was leading the pretty bay out to introduce him to his new belle.
The horses didn't care in the slightest what was going on. Once Moony saw Kano and he caught the scent of a mare in heat, there was very little left for the humans to do. Well, except try to catch the pair of them once they were finished.
