Showjumping in the RDS one day

Story - for those who don't yet realise, Emily and Tom are something of a parody I'm a little tired of the 'oh I'm so emotional and damaged' HARPG characters, and also the sickeningly sweet couples. In Emily and Tom, we have both And Jemima's basically a moody teenager. All good fun.

Jemima was still sweating. She sort of wished the showjumping was being held outside - there would be a chance she'd get caught in a rain shower and that might cool her off a little bit. Might persuade Juno to be less of a female dog about life as well. Unlikely, but possible.
As it was, the showjumping was in the indoor arena too. Again, Emily seemed to be having a perfect warmup.
Perhaps Jemima was just bitter that her colleague's ride was being ridiculously supported by Tom. Everybody knew they were in a relationship. They wandered around holding hands and kissing at random. Fine. She might be able to cope with that. If only he would stop calling her 'Princess' when he was supposed to be giving her quick critiques and stop staring at her with big moony eyes when she was actually competing. Some couples were soul sickening even if you didn't have direct emotional complications.
"You know why he calls her princess, right?"
Aaron had suddenly appeared at Jemima's stirrup when she'd halted Juno to wait for Ellie and Aesop to pop over the practice fence.
"No. Do tell," Jemima replied dryly, deliberately staring at the Oak Hollow pair in order to avoid seeing Emily leaning down for a kiss from Tom.
"Apparently it's that god awful song 'Punk Rock Princess'. You know, from about 2003 or something like that," he said, nodding appreciatively at the way one of the other riders was handling a slightly moody ride.
Jemima snorted derisively. "It would be something like that."
She clicked her tongue softly - and unnecessarily - then to encourage Juno to move off. She moved off at a sprightly canter.
"Remember, no distractions!"
She actually did swear him out that time.
